R.H. White Construction, founded in Auburn, MA in 1923 and still family-owned through its third and fourth generations, served as the general contractor and system integrator for the Eversource Energy networked-geothermal pilot in Framingham — widely cited as the first-of-its-kind utility-scale networked geothermal project in the United States. The $23 million project involved drilling 90 bores, constructing a one-mile ambient-loop distribution system, and converting 37 buildings (commercial, multifamily, municipal, and single-family homes) to geothermal heating and cooling. R.H. White managed all plastic pipe installation, building conversions, and pump house construction, and will support Eversource with operations and maintenance for 24 months post in-service.
